What is Motability?
Motability is a scheme that enables disabled people to use their Government funded mobility allowances to obtain a new scooter or powered wheelchair. As long as you are eligible for the Motability Scheme, you are entitled to a brand new mobility scooter or powered wheelchair every three years.
Motability is a not-for-profit organisation and the scheme has helped over three million individuals with their mobility needs since it was established in 1977.
Our approved dealer for the Motability Scheme, can help you get the right mobility scooter or powered wheelchair for you or your loved one and make the application to the scheme on your behalf. As a dealer on the scheme they have received specialist training, which is continually updated so that they remain experts on the scheme.
The scheme is available to anyone who receives the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance, the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS) or the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP).
To be eligible, those who wish to lease a mobility scooter or powered wheelchair through Motability must have at least twelve months left on their allowance by the time we make the application.
How to Apply for Motability
Once you have decided on a product an application will be sent on your behalf. Under normal circumstances you can expect to get your new scooter or electric wheelchair in just 1-3 weeks after applying for Motability.
The contract hire includes insurance, warranty, breakdown and recovery, servicing, repairs, tyres and batteries for the full term of the contract – all covered by the Motability Scheme. This means that they can meet you or your loved one’s mobility needs without any worry of inconvenience or hidden costs.
Which Vehicle is Right for You?
With such a vast choice of products available it can be quite confusing. With Motability they arrange a free home consultation visit. This is so they can carry out a full assessment of the user’s needs and requirements to help to find the perfect mobility solution and overcome any issues there may be. These include comfort, use of product, storage, transportation, access and any other concerns you may have.
